Fireboy and Watergirl: Co-op Puzzles and Element Rules
Fireboy and Watergirl games build cooperative puzzles around two characters with different elemental abilities. The challenge is to plan a route for both characters, not simply rush one to the exit. The exact obstacles vary between entries in the series.

Learn what each character can cross
Read the element rules in the game you open. Fireboy and Watergirl do not interact with every pool or hazard in the same way, and some hazards are unsafe for both.
Before moving, identify which route suits each character. Sending the wrong character into a hazard can end an otherwise useful attempt.

Plan switches and platforms together
A switch may help the other character more than the one who reaches it. Look at the whole room and ask what changes when a button is held or a platform moves.
If one character must remain in place, first decide how the other will reach the next useful position. That avoids undoing a solved part of the puzzle by moving too soon.

Playing alone or with a partner
- Check both sets of controls before entering a difficult room.
- With a partner, say which character is moving next.
- When playing alone, stop one character in a safe place before switching attention.
- Use a failed attempt to identify a route or timing problem.
The puzzle can be more manageable when the players describe a short sequence instead of moving both characters without a plan.

Different entries, different obstacles
Temple themes and later entries introduce variations, so do not assume one walkthrough covers the entire series. Use the title and controls shown by the current game.
